Is a gtx 960 2gb terrible or still better than a gtx 950 2gb?

I just bought a 960 and reading the comments of some YouTube videos people have been stating the 2gb version sucks while the 4gb version is alright. I play to play ultra/high on Battlefield 4, same for Black Ops 3, Minecraft Shaders, and some other games.

I just wanna know if its a good purchase. I got a deal for only $150.00 for it new. That's the same price of my GTX 950! The 960 was out of my budget of $170 (200) and cant get any more MONEY-MONEY for the cost.

Don't feel bad if there's no real improvement in games like Black Ops 3, it's a miserably optimized game that'll punish much bigger cards than a 960.

MineCraft is such a simple game that you'll surpass the 60fps cap even with a 950, so no improvement there either.

BF4 will show the largest improvement. That game is highly optimized for mid grade pcs, so the 960 will be able to take full advantage of that over the 950.

Of course a gtx970 is a whole different beast, easily surpassing the 960s best output by a good margine. And yes, some of that has to do with its 3.5Gb of ram vrs the 2Gb of the 960. Honestly, unless you plan on trying to max out AA or mxaa or fxaa, you'll not see any real difference between 2Gb or 4Gb in a 960. It's...

It's an improvement, but I wouldn't say the improvement is big enough to buy it. In a month used 970s will go for around 150 on https://www.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap. I would advise you to wait until then.

It's not really powerful enough to handle that kind of ram usage and still maintain decent fps.

Might be worth saving the extra $50 and going for the rx480 when it's released at $200ish or trying the used 970s as earlier suggested. If you are already second guessing the 960 purchase ,you'll probably end up unhappy with the minor gains over the 950.

I'm not second guessing the 960. Its just that I was worried the 960 wont have enough performance with 2gb ram. Now that I know that its normal with 2gb, I'm super hyped. Also I got it for 129.99 :3 I returned it but almost immediately (like 2 minutes later) I bought it again and got faster delivery (1 day) AND a lower price :3. Don't have ANY second guesses at all. So happy :3
