When a new GPU comes out, will the prices of older GPUs drop?

Hey, i was wondering about the GTX970 when a thought hit me.

So right now, the 970 cost around $350. Since the 1070 and 1080 will come out soon, will the price of the 970 drop or will it remain the same?

1. The 970 is going for as low as $280 here in US.

2. The 1080 is already "out", and I expect we'll see 1070s by Monday.

Prices have already dropped. But until AMD comes out with something competitive, nVidia has no incentive to cut prices. The 970 OC'd tops the 390X OCd and they are still running a lot higher than the 970

Oh..in my country, GTX970's lowest price is like.. $300.
