Ok, I'm new at overclocking but since my cpu starts pulling me down in some games i would like to try to overclock.

OS: Win7
CPU: i5 2500K
Mobo: Gigabyte PH67-DS3 B3

I KNOW, PH67 is locked etc etc BUT, in the manual it says:
"GIGABYTE PH67-DS3-B3 motherboards is designed and engineered to deliver exceptional performance and clarity for your computing needs. Powered by the Intel® P67 chipset with support for 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processors, GIGABYTE PH67-DS3-B3 enjoy uniquely developed technologies such as Smart 6 , DualBIOS technology and Ultra Durable 2 design just to name a few, that ensure a reliable and enjoyable computing experience."

So after looking around i noticed that i couldn't change the clock ratio to more than x37, however i can change the BCKL but as i understand it from reading lots of other posts that wouldnt not be a good idea.

I also had a friend telling me there's some switch on the mobo (dont know if he was talking about a button or an other place to rewire the cables to, sorry for lack of English knowledge when it comes to overclocking terms :p). was he misleading me or is there a way to allow me going over x37 by using this switch?

Is updating bios an option?

Thanks for your time, i will appreciate all help that i can get.
With Best Regards, Jesper.

The P67 and H67 chipsets are two different chipsets for the motherboard. You own a board that is equipped with the H67 chipset and the manual is speaking of a P67 chipset(which is a typo). In retrospect you shouldn't follow up on peoples hearsay and instead do as much reading as possible. The maximum ram frequency your board will allow you to go is DDR3 1333MHz which is tell tale that the board can't support overclocking. P67+Z68 platforms allowed you to overclock and the BCLK overclock was not necessary as the processor is an unlocked processor.

If you're unsure of what to do, don't do it until you're sure of what to do since overclocking is something that isn't covered under manufacturer warranty and we can't be blamed...

* The manual was printed to cater to both P67 and H67 motherboards, here but the P67's abilities should not be crossed over to H67 abilities and vice versa.
