4GB VRAM enough for 1440p?

I'm getting the RX 480 for my new build, and I'm going to get a 1440p monitor to pair with it. My question is, would 4GB RAM be enough for 1440p games at medium-ultra settings for now and the coming years?

For now it is enough, and it should be in the coming years as well. However AMD may release an Rx 480 with more VRAM as well (just as how they have the 2GB and 4GB 380 now).
