Can there be some problem with my ISP or my modem that causes my wireless router to drop signal?

My network is set up like this: I have a PC in the middle of a small house connected directly to a router which is connected directly to a cable modem. I have three other PC's and a laptop that all connect to the internet via WiFi.

After years of no problems, I started to have all manner of internet connectivity issues in my home about a month ago. The most frequent problem is that all of my PC's (including the one that is directly connected to the router via an Ethernet cable) lose connection at the same time. This happens at least once per day. Sometimes the internet signal comes back on its own. Most of the time, though, I have to turn the router (but not the modem) off and back on in order to restore the signal.

I do pick up WiFi signals from my neighbors on all 2.4 GHz channels (1-14).

What I've done so far to try to fix the problem:

  • ■ I replaced my router from Wireless N 2.4GHz to Wireless AC 2.4/5.0 GHz.
    ■ I currently have one PC that connects via 5.0GHz. The rest still connect via 2.4GHz.
    ■ I set my router's 2.4 GHz channel from "Auto" to "11".
    ■ I've run Window's Network Diagnostics.
    ■ I've checked the cables and cords for connection.
    ■ I've updated the router's firmware.
    ■ I've called the cable company a couple of times when the internet goes out to have them run a diagnostic on their end. They have me reset the router and the modem.
The problem persists on all PC's in spite of these actions.

So I think that my router is okay and that something else is causing the internet signal drop. What do you think the problem is?
