Does SLI work natively without a SLI profile, or does nvidia have to release one to enable cards to work together? If they do need a profile, are they faster at releasing them than amd. What is their release time frame after a release? Some games acmd will not even bother to release a profile for. Is it the same way on team green? Currently my system is almost matched with the 1080 without any reason to upgrade. The 1080 looks like a weaker lower end card. Do you think they will release a 1090 and another enthusiast grade card that will actually be worth upgrading too. They only real thing the 1080 would buy me right now is more performance per wat. The reason why i' asking this is because Ive been thinking about buying two 1080's and making another build based around team green because the money's all there. However if they release a better more powerful single gpu. I would rather just buy the $1000.00 one and disregard and multi GPU stuff all together. Should i just wait it out until early 2017 for nvidia and amd to release the real beasts on the new 14/16nm process once they refine the tech more, and just buy a htc vibe and oculus rift? The last one sounds better to me. Plus.... if i do build another one i need to make another LQ cooling loop. I hate doing it but i love the low temps, and OCing it brings.

Sli differs not only from nvidia's site but also from the games themselves. I gotta say that Sli now is way different and actually better than before, and from 670s to 770s (mistake) to now 980s I can recommend Sli. Again it depends on the games you play, I do bf4 and it's the main reason i need more power for 144hz monitor. once you go 100+hz you never go back. These famous titles use Sli and have profiles real quick, and a lot of the community make custom sli profiles that work better than the original, until its fixed by nvidia at least. When Far Cry 4 came out it was terrible to sli players, but the community had modded fc3 profiles that worked perfectly. There are however some game with no sli profiles, it could be from the game it...

In most cases though those games arent demanding and you will be fine with one card running the show.
I dont think there will be a 1090 as it's gone since 6xx series, who knows though. We might see a 1080 ti which should be the superior card. And If I had the money I'd go with two 1080s it will be a 100% faster than one 1080 ti. Or if you can hold then two 1080 tis because why not :p
