Hey guys!

I'm having a debate with my friend who I can't seem to convince that such cheap alternatives to PSU is a bad choice. I don't want him to fry his PC but he keeps on saying that "CM is a good brand and this one is cheap so why would it be bad?"
It is a 600W PSU for 50$

More Specs about the PSU: (It is in hungarian but the specs are understandable for non-hungarians as well)

Cooler Master is not generally a good brand for power supplies. They are very much a mixed bag, with everything from pretty crappy units to downright excellent stuff. Their Elite Power units fall on the pretty crappy end of the scale.

The RS600 in particular is the only one in the Elite series made by CWT, most of the others are made by FSP or Solytech. Solytech have a poor reputation, while CWT and FSP both have a reputation like Cooler Master - they can be everything from crappy to excellent.

Unfortunately there don't seem to be any reviews of that unit - Cooler Master definitely wouldn't want to send samples of poor units to reviewers, so that's a first clue about low quality. It's also not 80 Plus certified, which is another bad...

It's also not 80 Plus certified, which is another bad omen. And finally, it is only rated for 408W on its dual 12V rails. That's disappointing for a 500W unit, which is what it's officially rated as. It's even worse when they put 600 in the model name to trick people into thinking it's a 600W unit. Deceptive marketing practices like this are also a major red flag. Overall, I definitely think this unit should be avoided if your friend values his hardware.
