I have this wireless keyboard that stopped working due to the buggered USB receiver. I'm not sure why it stopped working; i might have bumped into it a long while ago or something went wrong. I don't remember.

I'm trying to troubleshoot and fix the thing. When I plug it in, the computer doesn't pick it up. If I push up on it, the computer begins to read it but i have to keep applying pressure. So I took the plastic casing off, and there appears to be nothing wrong internally. All the connections are still soldered together and what not. The USB plug appears to be fine, but obviously something must be wrong.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot/fix this further? Or can I can a new receiver? Or is the whole keyboard garbage?

Solution

Well, there is some loose connection inside.

Can you explain how you fixed it. I’ve looked at the majority of the solders. It has almost completely stopped working at this point. I used to be able to get it work by pushing or wiggling it around but I’m no longer getting anything. It is a Microsoft 6000 Keyboard and Mouse. The dongle is bent up a little. No fractures either.

I wanted to try this older post before I make my own.

I didn't end up fixing it. I look the dongle apart and all the connections were still together, though i re-soldered them anyway. Nothing changed so i through the keyboard away.
