I've recently upgraded soñe parts of my pc. Everything besides the gpu and power supply. Since I was aware of the new hardware coming out around the corner. Now yesterday my pc experienced it's first crash ever and have tried many test and I've narrowed it down to my gpu and or power supply.

I was having some random crashes and now windows 10 no longer boots up. While it was able to boot I could do anything I usually do browse the Web, play music movies anything but play games. Also crashed when waking up or closing the Screensaver. Now I want to know if the card just isn't getting enough power anymore or if my good old friend has just met her end.

Couple months old
Cpu AMD 8350
Mobo msi 970 krait
Hyper 212 evo

Couple years old
Gpu and sapphire 6870
Power supply corsair cx 500

Nothing is over clocked
Thank you all for your help.

Before today everything was running great for months. But yeah I did a fresh install when I upgraded the parts. Today I tried some system restore points as well as a os reset. And nothing.

Any suggestions on a good one as well what capacity. I'm considering a possible GTX 1080 upgrade when ever they become available. I hope that's also the issue since it's something I can change ASAP. Since the gpu isn't available yet.

Thanks I'll look into those. I was wondering if I needed a little more overhead since I use many hdd's 5 and 2 ssd's and some expansion cards. USB type c and, media card reader as well as a Blu ray drive.

Update
Finally made some progress Im able to start up in safe mode. So far no issues have come up. The issue really seems to be contained in the power and or GPU. Getting ready to order a PSU online just gotta do a little research. Thanks to all of you who have helped me so far.

this is why I've been so confused. In all my years dealing with PC's I've never had this type of thing happen before. Last night I was convinced it was an issue with CS:GO since it crashed while playing that. And that game is prone to having issues every time it updates. But then it started crashing when my screen saver would start up or when waking up from sleep. Then i started doing some diagnostic tests and thats what caused the final deathblow. A benchmark on the GPU after that the booting issues began.

Figured out the issue It was a dying GPU I stalled it on another system and it had the same exact problem. It renders low res (A.K.A. bios and installation resolutions) But once it kicks into 1080 or higher it blacks out.

Also thank you very much for the PSU recommendation I went with the EVGA and the thing is a dream to build and work with.
