I accidentally turned my 1TB Seagate External Hard Disk into a recovery drive for my Windows 10 OS. Immediately upon realising what I had done, I disconnected within 2 minutes from initiation of process. However, when I tried connecting my HDD to my laptop/other laptops, I could not see my old files, and the disk had been renamed to 'Recovery', showing only 31 GB of total space. I tried changing the file system from FAT32 to NTFS, but that did not help. I am sure two minutes cannot be enough to delete all my files. Besides, I downloaded Ease US Recovery software which allows free recovery up to 1 GB, and it did indeed list a lot of my 'lost' files.
I shall be highly obliged if you run me through the process that I ought to follow.
