We have been dealing with Verizon for several months trying to resolve an odd problem. The problem has to do with on-demand programming and DVR playback. The wireless router (MI424WR) is providing reliable internet service throughout the house - no problem. I also utilize two of the four Ethernet ports on the back of the router, one cable for a network drive and the other for my Home Theater Receiver (for Netflix, YouTube, etc.). My problems have been: programs freezing, pixilation, and/or blank screen, when I attempt to playback DRV programs or on-demand. After several service calls, the most recent technician found that disconnecting the two Ethernet cables corrected these issues. The tech said that the the Ethernet connections were "messing up" the router, and that the router is the key component necessary for DRV programs and on-demand service . He demonstrated this to my wife and I by re-connecting the cables, which caused the on-demand to freeze and then disconnecting them resulting in the original problem. So, Verizon has only partially corrected our problem. After reviewing the MI424WR router user's manual, it appears that my configuration should be within the capabilities of this equipment. Moreover this very same configuration worked flawlessly in the past, albeit with an earlier model wireless router. (Note: the older router was replaced after we complained of slow internet service, but the DVR playback and on-demand worked fine) I'm not sure of the next step is resolving this problem. I just wanted a sanity check on my configuration and if I am pushing the capabilities of the equipment. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK. On the FIOS router Advanced -> IP Address Distribution -> Connection List will show all the devices that have IP addresses assigned by the router. The "My Network" tab will show all devices on the network.

Boot the router without your two wired connections. Give it a few min to stabilize. Check the my network tab. Then plug in network drive. See what address it has. Is there any duplicates? Do the same for the home theater.

Kanewolf, thank you for your response. However, I don't have the level of understanding to fully understand your suggestions. Perhaps you can tell me in very basic terms what I need to check.

Thanks
