Cpu bottlenecking my gpu

So I have a gtx 970 msi and a fx-8350 I thought I could play games at 60fps at maximum settings at 1080p but no I get like -40-50 frames in games like the forest do you think that my cpu is too low for my gpu should I get a new cpu? And so what's a good one compares to my gpu

Remember back when you bought that CPU and thought you were saving all kinds of money?

Well, it has now come back around to bite you in the butt.
You pretty much have the following choices:

  • ■Live with the current CPU until the AMD Zen CPU's are released sometime in 2017. Then buy an AM4 motherboard, Zen CPU, and DDR4 memory.
    ■Buy an Intel based motherboard and CPU that can drive the card at full speed point prior to the above option.
