I have just started playing a game called 'Ark Survival Evolved' on my PC. At random intervals, my PC will instantly shut down without any warning, and will not reboot unless I manually flick the switch on the back of my PSU. The game itself runs very smooth on my setup, however my fans become very loud. I originally thought something was overheating, however I have downloaded software to check my temperatures and nothing seems particularly high whilst playing. I currently have a quad core AMD A8-6600k CPU @ 3.9Ghz, with overclocking it can reach around 4.3Ghz. I also have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 GPU, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive and a 500w PSU. If anyone has any ideas as to what is causing this then I would be happy to hear any suggestions.

You are overclocking. Are you also increasing the CPU Vcore voltage as you increase your clock speeds? Posting your motherboard make and complete model-number will help those more experienced with overclocking to possibly suggest a fix. If you are able to take screenshots of your BIOS I would post a screenshot of your voltages. and any other relevant info.

After doing more research into this I think I might have found the potential problem. I believe my components are requiring more power than what the PSU can supply. Using the event viewer program, i have found entries for the 3 times this shutdown has happened, each one from the source 'Kernel-Power' and being described as 'critical'.

The GPU under load hits around 70 degrees Celcius. My CPU reaches around 50 degrees Celcius, with a fluctuation of about 5 degrees Celcius either side.
