Hi, here's my current specs.

CPU: Amd FX-8320E 8x4.27GHz - Overclocked
GPU: Msi HD R7950 Twin Frozr 3GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3 666MHz
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
MOBO: ASRock 870 Pro3 R2.0
HDD: 500GB Segate ST3500312CS

Should i get an upgrade for GPU?
Would the 970 be a good upgrade? I can get it for £130 or $185.
Should i invest in anything else?
I was thinking of new ram?

Solution
No matter what you do the 8320e will bottleneck you. I have an 8320 @ 5Ghz and experience bottlenecks, you can't get away with it with such poor single core performance.

You can buy an expensive card now and future proof yourself for when you upgrade to a better platform, but you might not see noticeable improvements in some games.

If you have to go for those two, then go for the 970. But, I would recommend going for the 980 or 980ti. Way better performance, not much more in price (getting used via Amazon is great way to get a DOA warranty). For instance, I just found three 980ti classifieds on Amazon for $485 USD per card. about 40% lower than buying them new about 3-6months ago.

I would wait until the GTX 1070 becomes available, or AMD's new R9 480 becomes available. The 970 would be a good upgrade, and if I were you I would buy one second hand locally or from eBay if you really want to upgrade right now.

In what world is $200 "not much more in price"?

If you actually know how to save and take care of your finances $200 isn't much more when you consider higher end cards are usually going to be $400 or more than what he is looking at. Just because you are one to think $50 will break the bank doesn't mean everyone can't handle their finances.
