@iXeon but would this setup through asus sound card give true surround sound output through the z906? Also connecting z906 to the sound card through 3.5 and not 5.1 cable setup (the rear, front etc cables) give true surround sound? if you could explain the cable setup , i would be grateful...
And in case i connect my logitech UE6000 to the sound card will it output better sound quality as compared to what im getting now without a sound card?
There are just tthree ways you can connect the z906 to the sound card:
1-by 3 3.5mm audio jack that each of them carry two channels : 1 for front left/right 1 for rear left/right 1 for center/sub
2-by the SPDIF (optical) port that carries all 6 channels (recommended)
3-by Coax cable that also carries all 6 channels (should be supported by the sound card but not recommended because it's not immune to EMF pulse).
so each of them has advantages and disadvantages but if you using this for a short length i recommend to use 3.5mm jack or Coax cable.if you using it for long length optical cable is better. and there's no difference between the 3.5mm jack and Optical- Coax just that they send the signals in a digital way and 3.5mm jack send it in analog way.
these connection are all to the z906 sub and then you get 6 pair of outputs that each used to connect the speakers.
a pair for front right a pair for front left and so on....:

and there's a port for control console in the middle as you can see in the picture.
and as i said true 5.1 happens when you feed the computer a true 5.1 source for example when you play a music that's been recorded in stereo you get stereo sound (although there are other modes for stereo in z906 like 3d stereo) but if you play a movie that's been recorded in Dolby or DTS the z906 automatically detect it and turn into decode mode. (be careful sometimes the movie is dolby 5.1 but the software has been set to only play two channels, then you need to configure the software to play the channels as input.)
