Using old GPU with newer intergrated graphics

I recently saw this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1813912/integrated-intel-4600-radeon-5450.html where it essentially says that the Intergrated graphics are better than using the HD 5450.

I have just started to upgrade my system and am in a similar situation whereby I have an i5-4690k with Intel HD4600 graphics. However, i too have an AMD HD 5450 and was wondering whether I should leave the GPU installed in the system (even though the intergrated will be set to primary) or remove it altogether, and if I leave it installed what benefit there is or isn't.

PassMark is a good reference point for card/CPU/Hard drive comparisons. In your case, under common cards in the benchmark lists, the two video options are right at the bottom. The 5450 scores 231 while the HD4600 is around 700 and much (3X+) superior though in a relative way. I'd pull the 5450 as it's extra power, heat and potential for driver issues and conflicts.

there would be no benefit from leaving it installed. you will want the newer/better gpu being used and it will only confuse things to have both installed in the system for really no reason.
