Hello guys/gals!

I had this PC from 2 years ago it is a Aspire - M3985 Prebuilt PC...I know its bad to buy it prebuilt but at that moment i did not know what to do , this time i wanna know whats happening and how to do it, So my idea was to Upgrade from GT620 to GT1070...Honestly just something i can play new games with without lowering my resolutions etc , I know right ? Huge upgrade!
My gaming experience is gonna be better for sure!
I need to know if its all compatible and doable

Budget range: 600-700 Euro's
Preferably used retailer : https://www.afuture.nl/ - I am from Belgium , they are the best apperently
Location : Belgium - Oost vlaanderen
System Usage: Gaming,School stuff,Watching Movies
Are you buying a monitor?:If its really needed i will! (Current monitor: Acer X223W)
Parts to Upgrade: Probably need an upgrade on PSU and GFX? the rest i wanna use not as much money , so bassicly reuse anything i can!
Do you need to buy OS: No
Overclocking: Maybe
Why Are You Upgrading: Im tired of not being able to run games , or forcing myself too mega lower resolutions and graphics

Main specs to notice:
8GB RAM
I5-3450 CPU @ 3.10GHz
64 Bit System
GT 620 GFX CARD
500GB HD (Prebuilt was 1TB HDD but got corrupted and got a guy who replaced it)
300 W PSU

a 300w power supply is not going to be good enough for a 1070. 450-500w is the minimum for such a card depending on the model.

you will need a new psu to go with the new card. will have to look over the site you linked to find a decent one at a decent price since i am not familiar with belgium pricing.

you will also need to ensure you can fit one in your case. pics are not easy to tell how big it is. you'll want to measure inside the case from the back where the card will poke through, straight to the front until it hits something. that is how long it can be. the from the motherboard slot out to the side of the case to see how tall the card can be.

then a quick look here http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html will show you what models you can fit if you are limited in size.

GTX 1070 is an overkill for your monitor resolution and your CPU would probably be a bottleneck for that GPU anyways. And if we decide to upgrade your CPU to an unlocked one (3570k) we would need to buy a good motherboard + cpu cooler too. A PSU upgrade is needed too. And all these probably would be over your budget (cause you'd probably need a better monitor to take full advantage of the 1070 too)

Thus, maybe we can do this by considering AMD RX 480 plus a PSU upgrade. This would give you an optimal experience for cheaper but RX480 will probably be around in a month or so

the i5 he has is plenty for a 1070. it's about the same a 980ti which would also be fine with that cpu. no need to go there right now. just a psu to run the card will suffice.

Hmmm Maybe a 1070 is an overkill after all , But how would i be able to run games really smooth ?
Game examples : I wanna play Battlefield 1
Also playing Overwatch , and Triple A games here n there like shadow of mordor and tomb raiders new game etc
it doesnt have to be EPIC ULTRA graphics ; All i want is a smooth 60+ FPS All the time , with maybe High-Medium graphics , if its possible

But i am also thinking about the long run , getting a 1070 would be good for later

So everything else is compatible with a new PSU + GTX 1070 ?

1070 is around 15% faster than a 980ti and that CPU would hold a GTX980ti back by good. The best GPU i'd recommend would be a GTX 970 for that build. 1070 is an overkill for his build and that'd be a pretty bad investment/wasted potential unless he buys a relatively good monitor too. That's why i recommended rx480 if he can wait. This would save him a lot of cash

yup, you'd be good to go so long as you ensure the card will fit into the case and only uses the pcie connections you have available. the power supplies i linked have a 6pin and 8 pin but there are a couple 1070 models that use 2 x 8 pins so avoid those. again the first link i gave has all the specs for every card including dimensions to ensure you get one that will fit/work with what you have. here it is again http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html
