Will I beable to purchase an 8 pin power adapter for my 6pin pci-e and use it on a graphics card: GTX 950. My power supply gives off 450W. I was just curious whether or not that it would work or if i'd need to upgrade my power supply.

Solution
Your 450W PSU doesn't have an 8pin? Mine has two. I never suggest using adapters. Forcing a PSU to do something it wasn't intended to do is nearly never a good idea. If you have a "450W" PSU and it has only one 6pin plug, I'd upgrade. It wasn't designed to handle a card that wants an 8pin plug.

I'm not too sure but all I know is that the PSU gives out 450W and that the graphics card draws 125w but is recommended on a PSU of 350w.

It would work as the 950 draws little power. that being said, what is your PSU as you may have to upgrade it for quality reasons.
Also, you could just get a GPU with a 6 pin plug.

open the case and take a look, just because it says its 450w doesn't mean it actually is

a lot of cheap makers straight up lie about wattage

take a picture if you can, and upload it to imgur
