I am looking to buy an older used AMD 5770 that runs on PCI-E 2.1 but I currently have PCI-E 1.1 with my Intel X38 chipset. I am wondering if the card will be backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.1.
My current build is

BFG TECH GTX+/GTX 9800
Intel C2D e8400
475W Delta PSU with a 6-pin power connector
Intel x38 chipset with PCI-E 1.1
HP MB-XW4600-TW-HPQ(motherboard)
8 GB of DDR2 RAM

Any replies would be appreciated because i am picking up the card tomorrow evening. It would be great to get advice before i venture into the deep unknown to pick up a card that may or may not work.

Thanks in advance

Yes. PCIe 2 is backwards compatible with PCIe 1. And the HD5770 is about equivalent to a GTX 750 except the 5770 uses 100W compared to the GTX 750 at 55W. But your 475W PSU has enough juice to run the 5770 so it's not a problem.
