GTX 970 no signal after plugging DVI port

Hello! I have a really weird problem. I've just bought a new gtx 970 and the HDMI port is working fine, but when i plug in the DVI cable, the GPU wont respond anymore.
This thing happens even if i pulg in just the vga-DVI adapter alone, without any cable.

Is it possible that the graphics card could be malfunctioning?

Yes. I am completely retarded, I was using a wrong dvi adapter, and after 2 days I realized that the graphics card came with its own adapter.

It works just fine now.
