So i got a new headset,i try to plug it into my splitter because i have only 1 jack on my laptop but it doesn't show it as a microphone instead it is recognized as a playback device (headphones) i plugged in my external microphone but it recognizes it as a playback device too HELP ME PLEASE

What is the splitter you got, brand and model or a link to where you got it from? You can't just use a splitter fro this, if your headset has two 3.5 mm outputs and the laptop has one, you need a dual 3 pole to 4 pole adapter, not just a splitter. If you did get an adapter, there are two types of 4 pole jacks, it's different in where the ground is located and the wrong type...

It's a genius gaming headset the splitter supports audio input and output (TRSS) so as my laptop but it recognizes the headphones only. My older external microphone worked but then it didn't recognize the headphones .
