Hello friends, I have the opportunity to upgrade my current XFX R9 380 to a GTX 780Ti Classified.

I know on paper without a doubt that the 780Ti is more powerful. My main concern is the loss of 1Gb of VRAM.

I've watched my MSI afterburner read 3.2Gb VRAM usage while playing GTA V, does this mean the 780Ti won't have enough VRAM to play GTA optimally? Or was the 380 only using that much because of a leak, or the fact it has the VRAM so it uses it?

Anyone with knowledge on the subject please give me your thoughts.

My friend fried his GTX 460, so I would be selling him the R9 380 and making my money back right away.

Thanks guys,

Josh

The release is on June 27th, but you might want to wait a little bit longer for the prices to drop...

What resolution are you running the game on?

I'm running a 780 with 3gb VRAM @ 1080p. I have found 3 games so far which can exceed 3gb and it causes instant stuttering. It's easily fixed by dropping settings but it is a limiting factor. Now if your more interested in high fps (144 Hz monitor) than you are detail settings it might not even be an issue but if your objective is to run higher detail settings then it could very well be a problem.

I'm running @ 1080p 144hz. I have a feeling the 780Ti would be able to help me achieve 144FPS a little easier.

Yeah, I knew there would be issues running with 3Gb. I honestly don't play games like that much though, GTA is the only demanding one. OverWatch is my main game right now and that's only using 1.4Gb.

Waiting for the RX 480 is an option, but when is the release? My friend doesn't have his system right now, was hoping to get a GPU soon so he could game with me.
