I wouldn't normally think of doing such a thing but I have a vintage motherboard, an FIC PT-2011, and I'd like to add int13 extensions so I can break the 8GB HDD barrier. My problem is that the motherboard has both AMI and Award bios listed. My MB has AMI bios currently installed, but only the Award bios has int13 extensions. These are both for the same model board. Is the bios chipset so specific that it requires the specific bios even for the same board? In other words can I flash Award over AMI if both bios are for the same model board? I figure worst case is I brick it and re-flash the chip with my universal flasher.
