I wouldn't normally think of doing such a thing but I have a vintage motherboard, an FIC PT-2011, and I'd like to add int13 extensions so I can break the 8GB HDD barrier. My problem is that the motherboard has both AMI and Award bios listed. My MB has AMI bios currently installed, but only the Award bios has int13 extensions. These are both for the same model board. Is the bios chipset so specific that it requires the specific bios even for the same board? In other words can I flash Award over AMI if both bios are for the same model board? I figure worst case is I brick it and re-flash the chip with my universal flasher.

Here's where I'm finding the bios files:

So I flashed with the Award bios and everything seemed fine. I did have to reconfigure some things for the boot to complete as the bios said that it had an unstable configuration. But that had happened when I flashed with an AMI bios before. Well the problem is that my ide drives would not auto configure. I didn't try to manually configure them, just decided to go back to the AMI bios. Sadly I had a bad flash going back and I'll have to pull the chip now to flash it in my programmer. The system will not post at this time. It seems to be doing a floppy seek and beeps when it can't find it, looping and beeping endlessly.
