friend got a dell inspiron 3650 and i wanted to put in an evga 750ti sc, but the psu is to small and i cant upgrade the psu INSIDE it but could i mount a psu outside the case and run the wires in by either making sure its properly grounded or just cut and old case up to make a stand for it?

Solution
I'd advise against tampering with a prebuilt system since it will void your warranty and the parts within that chassis are proprietary which means that the system that came shipped as is is meant to be that way. If you'd like to add on a GTX750Ti then you better do it on a system that can accept a standard SFX(-L)/TFX/ATX sized 450W PSU that is of reliable quality and is branded.

Your best course of action would be to build a system of your own instead of transplanting it to have that GTX750Ti in there as well.

When you say that the psu is too small, do you mean that it is not a standard ATX size, or do you mean that it is not sufficiently powerful for a GTX750ti.

Most GTX750ti cards draw less than 75w and will work with the psu that came with your pc.
