I just built a new computer around a Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P motherboard. It's been working fine until today when it won't post. I get 4 long beeps and one short beep from the case speaker. Does anyone know what the beeps mean? Can't find anything on Gigabyte's site or in the m/b manual.

Solution
Hello... 1e) Re-peat CMOS clear, each time, and try ONE Stick and different RAM positions and combinations on your MB... to sort out which sticks work (together?) and where B )
1f) When your happy with the results... save&exit to use those Ram sticks with your MB... the CMOS was re-programed correctly for them.

Think I just found my problem. I'm using 2x8GB Corsair DDR4 memory. I removed them and inserted 1x8GB in the primary memory slot. It posted and booted! When I tried the other 1x8GB stick it wouldn't post. Faulty memory! Guess the 4 long beeps and one short beep mean bad memory! It would be nice if Gigabyte made their beep codes easily accessible!!

Can you elaborate on how this is done? I removed the CMOS battery when this problem first occurred and it didn't resolve the problem. Should I remove all the RAM when I remove the CMOS battery and reinstall after replacing the CMOS battery?

No. I did not. I thought removing the battery achieved the same thing. Not true?

OK. Forgive my ignorance but if I remove the CMOS battery and short out the two pins on the CMOS jumper, that should clear it?

OK. Did it. Still won't post with both sticks in. Will post and boot with one of the sticks in either slots 1 or 2. But the other stick does not work at all. Must be bad.
