In the last week or so,i have encountered a problem with graphics drivers failing all the time. For example, I play a game, or watch a movie or whatever, and suddenly the video starts freezing for a couple of seconds and then in quickly speeds up,sometimes i get a black screen but not always and a warning that graphics driver has stopped responding but has recovered. My graphics card is an nvidia gtx 750 ti 2gb. I have tried updated and re-rolling the drivers with clean installs(tried the newest drivers and now im using 362.0) but it hasn't worked. I checked my GPU temp using GPU-Z and its not overheating, its around 30-35 degrees when watching movies. I found a "fix" by doing something in the regedit(setting something to 8) but i don't really know to explain it as i was just following a guide on Microsoft support, but nothing worked. What the heck is wrong and what can i do to fix it?Also,i'm using windows 8.1; I have been using it for a few months, maybe even a year and no problems like this so far. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Yeah see, those OEM ones are really bad, even if they are rated at 500w its usually not realistically possible given their components and setup, you're probably closer to 350 usable watts. Which means that for the last two years your PSU has been going full bore whenever you game, not necessarily a bad thing but not a good thing either.

I'd invest in a very high quality single 12v rail PSU with a 80 plus rating, even if it is just bronze.

It isn't going to make your PC any faster, but it will for sure eliminate headaches now and in the future.

But is it really the PSU causing the graphics drivers to stop working? Is there any way to check this other than trying a different PSU,because i don't want to waste the money and the problem to persist?
