Sata cable does not fit into the old cd drive

I had an old cd drive around that i decided to use in my new build i have a gigabyte g1 sniper b7 board and the sata cable used on the board is smaller than the one on the drive i know this is a noob question but any help about what i can do to connect the drive would be appreciated

IS it an IDE or a SATA drive?
A SATA drive takes two different size cables. 1 for data, 1 for power.

I wish i could post a picture of the the cd the power cable from the supply i managed to connect to the the drive and the drive was working in terms of but the computer was not reading it i think its a problem with the sata cable are there two different wires from the motherboard that need to be connected help would be really appreciated
