Hello, I am running a AMD Athlon x4 860k at stock 3.7ghz with a stock cooler and I am very confused with all the different temps I am getting. AMD Overdrive says the thermal margin is at around 60 when idle, but on the BIOS the temp ranges from 55-70 Degrees.

This is a link to my temps under pressure (AMD OD Stress Test)
I just dont understand how they can all be different? And which one is showing the correct temp?

The Mobo is a GIGABYTE F2A68HM-HD2.

Solution
Take the max as 72-74c on thermal margin - that puts that 19.6 reading at 53c or so.

I'd say that's right because while it officially has a tdp of 95w, its the same chip as a 95w 7870k but with the igp laser cut - essentially that saves you 10-15w.

People will tell you that amd chips run at high temps but in reality that's cock & bull, in reality they run 15-20c cooler than intel if you have sufficient case airflow.

Yes i know but I still dont know my actual temp, or the max temp

That temp in AOD shows about 43c core temp or calculated from 62c (throttle temp) minus 19.6c (margin). That's theory anyway, good luck figuring really precise AMD processor temps though. As long as margin is more than 10c, it's not overheating.
HW Monitor shows "Package" temps that are usually a lot higher than core temps and are even more inaccurate.

@countmike Theres no way it can be 43 degrees under 100% load? it's so confusing, when playing games the thermal margin is 25-30 so i guess my temp is far from overheating. i'm not sure what the max temp is for my CPU, some people say 72 some people say 105 degrees. Also a lot of people say that AOD is the only accurate program to measure AMD temps, even bios starts at 50 then goes up to 70 after about 5/10 mins, and thats on a cold start

@madmatt30
the other temp just seems so low for full load, but i guess im just worrying about t too much, it only goes below 20 thermal margin after a long stress test(15/20min) on 100% CPU usage, gaming is fine, i just wanted to know my actual temp but it seems almost impossible to find it

Thanks i'll try gigabyte easy tune when im home, i have very good airflow and i've double checked heatsink, reapplied paste ect... its annoying why cant it be simple :(

those temps just seem too good to be true under 100% stress idk, my cpu feels cool tho its blowing cool air out
