Hey guys, so it's been a few years since I've built a system and to be honest I'm pretty out of the loop on current hardware. My office system right now, which I do my VR and Editing on is an P9X79 Pro mother-board, with an i7 76x core, 64GB of DDR3 (I believe) and a Titan X.

I would love to build a new system, I'm curious about Mini ITX and small form-factor, but if that means really sacrificing too much power then I'd rather go Mid/Full-Tower, which is what I'm currently running.

It seems the X99 / LGA v3 motherboards are currently the way to go in terms of ability to use a ton of ram, lots of expansion, usb 3.1 and even thunderbolt? I have a single GTX 1080 on the way.

My main question is:

Case
Mobo/Chipset
CPU
Ram *I think I would need 64GB minimum, ideally upgradeable to 128gb. This probably means Mini-ITX out of the question?

What would you guys recommend? I'd ideally like to come in around around 2k-3k CAD.

Thanks!

I see you ordered one 1080 then you can order one more for SLI. I hope you can use SSD and HDD from old build. I included PSU because you will be needing this for SLI and OC if you already have better PSU then no need to buy it.

Thanks, this looks great. If I already purchased a GTX 1080, how else could I spend that money. Maybe a better CPU? Or faster SSD/Memory HDD? What do you think.

A bit high priced but I did not want to go with i7-5960X as i7-6900K is out but if you wanna save some money you can go with i7-5960X and 64GB RAM instead of 128GB RAM as 5960X only supports upto 64GB RAM.
I would recommend save $200 more and go for it. It will be great.
