Curious problem - HTC 8 phone in Network neighborhood but not connected to network?

I've got an issue that I can't understand.

In my Network neighborhood, inevitably a device titled m8_google will appear as a phone connected to my network. The MAC address is 00:ee:bd:b4:6d:f8.

However, I've added this to each of my routers MAC filtering (reject) and routinely check my router for all devices connected. In fact, I've disabled DHCP and only enable static routes for all known devices.

Yet, it shows up in each of my computers on my Homegroup.

Any ideas?

Good.

Just remember that MACs can be spoofed. If the intent is malicious then the "perp" may try other tactics.

Keep a close eye on things. Stay in communication with "others".

And continue to be "freaked out". At least you can see that your defenses are working.

Additional research seems that others have had the same problem.

From what I've gathered, someone in my neighborhood has a phone that is trying to connect to my router - but since I've blocked its MAC, disabled DHCP, have a 25 character password, and routinely check the logs for devices, it's not connected.

It just appears there and freaks me out.
