MSI X99a bios settings lost when entering Windows.

I just put together a system built on the MSI X99a sli Krait Endition motherboard with a Broadwell-E i7-6800 CPU. I've setup the bios to give me an overclock from the default 3.5ghz up to 4.2ghz.

When I reboot and come back into the bios it shows me the current state of the system in the upper right corner, which confirms that I have achieved my overclock with temps below 30C (water cooled). When my Windows 7 finishes loading and I check on the core speed, it shows that it's back down to 3.5ghz.

I can then go to the MSI Command Center and push it back up to 4.2ghz with no problems. What I'm wondering is why the core speed I set in bios is reverting back to default when WIndows loads?

I have XMP and OC Genie turned off in bios.

Sorry this reply took so long. Work and illness have kept me sidelined.

I have my system time set to automatically sync with 1.north-america.pool.ntp.org.

After having adjusted the initial settings, this is what my BIOS reports every time I enter it...

This is the latest version of the bios and it's showing the multiplier is 42.

When my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 finishes loading, the latest version of CPU-Z reports the mulitplier as 36...

And the latest version of Corsair Link 4 reports these temps...

If I then go to MSI Command Center and adjust the settings to raise the multiplier to 42, CPU-Z then reports this...

With these temps...

People have been paying me to build and repair PCs for them for over 20 years, yet I've never seen this behavior before.

The only thing I can think of is that there's something in my startup causing the settings to revert, but I've combed through the whole thing and can't find any clues. Maybe you'd have better luck?...

Update: rather than relying on the MSI LIVE Update tool to check on BIOS versions, which I've done almost daily, I went to the MSI site and found version N.70, which has been available for almost a month and a half now. After installing it, the problem was solved.

One has to wonder why they never bothered to list it with their update tool, which itself has been updated several times since then.
