Hey, at 4.4ghz @ 1.3v I reach about 87C in most stress tests and over 93C in prime95 v 26.6 with my kraken x61 running at 100% pump speed, also I know that the 4770k is superhot as normal, but this seems very high anyways... a 4790k is what? like 12-15 degrees less hot?

Solution

agree. i'd still recommend dialing back your voltage to maybe 1.28 max.

theres also the option of delidding, but if you go this route, prepare to void your warranty.

no, the i7-4790k temps don't vary anywhere near that much. those temps for your i7-4770k are way too high. your pump is likely failing. you should never push your core temperature consistently past 80c, even during stress tests. you are also pushing the maximum recommended voltage for your chip, which is not optimal. you should dial it back a bit and see if you can keep a stable 4.3ghz.

I've heard that 1.29v is what I should not go over, I think I can even be stable at 4.4ghz at 1.29v

Tried at 1.2v and reached 78C with prime95 however not the same speed

NZXT H440 is the case so there is one big radiatior at the top 280mm and one 140mm fan in the back of the case + 3st 120mm fans in the front, I don't have a gpu in my system at the moment sold it. Also issues with the heat of the 4770k is known but I don't really know by how much compared to the 4790k

EDIT: just looked at a video by linustechtips and it looks like the different is 13C between the 4770k and the 4790k in his video using the same cooler

this kraken x61 was bought yesterday and had pre applied thermal paste :) but gaming at 50-70C is that fine? I never reach above 70C while gaming, tested all my games I play

I don't really think the pump is failing because with my old H60 water cooler I could not even go over 1.2v because I hit 90+C instantly in prime95

I tried now at 1.28v and im getting 90C in prime still very high but when I check in the program "CoreTemp" I see that my core#2 and #3 have way lower temps than core#0 and core #1 the 0-1 core run at 90C while the other core 2-3 run at 78C
