BEST ROUTER for Charter internet with a Cisco DPC3008 Modem.

"Best" is a bit open ended and subjective.
Is there a budget? Do you own the modem or is it provided by Charter?
As a rule I prefer staying with the same manufacturer. Makes it hard for them to blame the "other" manufacturer.
So that approach would mean using a Cisco Router.
May or may not be suitable for your requirements or environment.
Can you add some additional details: required range, number of expected user devices, any wired use, etc...?

- I like to stay around $80 if at all possible for budget. The Modem is provided by Charter.

- For range it's just a small two bedroom apt. Maybe 30 ft. of range maximum with approximately 5 devices that would use the internet. There would be no wired use.
Charter does have two recommended routers on their site. One of them being the Netgear WNDR 3800. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone had any experience or recommendations before making the purchase.

I tend to be wary of Netgear as you may need to first log into their site to configure your router. Show stopper for me.
Go online and read the applicable User Manual/Guide(s) for the recommended routers. You may gain some advantage if a problem occurs. Charter cannot say you are using a router that is "not" recommended if you use their recommendation. Look for fine print caveats.....
5 wireless devices may be a bit much for the router if you expect all to be heavy internet users when active. But that will be much the same with any home/consumer based product. Wireless is inherently slower especially in places with other surrounding wireless networks.
Do consider some wired connectivity if at all possible. E.g., in the same room with the router. Or perhaps via Powerline adapters.
