Hello there,

I have only recently started streaming to twitch.tv. I have been playing PC gaming as opposed to console since 2012. I have an i5 3570K in my system and am into games like the CoD and battfield franchise. Last years Black Ops 3 ran fine but it was until now that I noticed that my i5 3570K was getting up to 95% when running the game which makes the game unstreamable due to OBS taking about 20% when live. Obviously the new Battlefield One is coming out and would be in my best interest to stream that from the same PC.

My question to the community is what difference in CPU usage would I see if I was to upgrade to an i7 3770K compared to my current to enable me to stream from the same PC. Keep in mind OBS uses 20% maximum when live.

Alternatively I could upgrade to a newer i7 6700K however that would involve me in upgrading RAM and MOBO which is a no go due to price :D

Thanks for any responses. It all helps me make the decision.

Hyperthreading provides on average around 30% extra throughput. Additionally, it tends to help when you have multiple tasks running, such as a game + streaming. An i7 would help a lot.

A 6700K has around 20% better performance per clock than a 3770K, and comes clocked a bit higher from the factory.

What clockspeed are you running your 3570K at?

3.4Ghz on my i5 3570K at current however I don't want to upgrade to a newer CPU due to having to buy a new MOBO and RAM. As long as the 3770K will last me a couple of years for future games and also being able to stream simultaneously then I'm ok with that.

I got the PC as a present and to be honest didn't know about PCs when I got it in 2012. Just overclocked it to 3.8GHz however BO3 still runs at 95% except this time the temps go up to 66 degrees with the H80i usually around 35 degrees idol. I think I will just get a 3770K so I have the overclocking option however I have heard that the Ivy Bridge CPUs were made with bad thermal compound from the factory so are prone to high temps.
Thanks for your help. I will pick solution but feel free to post here if you got any more information :D I will keep it bookmarked.
