So my mobo is an msi b85m g43 and i want to buy a gtx 970/rx 480 do i have to get latest bios update or will it work? im afraid to update my bios cause i might do something stupid
So is there any possibility that i buy an rx 480 and it doesnt work due to bios issue? currently i have gtx 960 4gb
Its possible but not very likely. There is a BIOS update that came out last year for that board that mentions "Updated AMD GPU compatibility" but there is no more info than that, and it could mean anything (such as older GPUs)
To be honest updating the BIOS is a lot easier and safer these days, MSI has a program called LiveUpdate 6 that will do it for you, its pretty foolproof to do, if you are concerned.
