Can't fix high latency problems on Windows 10.

Hi all. This is my first time posting. I created an account in hopes of fixing this maddening problem. First my system info:

CPU = Intel i5-4690K @ 3.50 Ghz
GPU = AMD Radeon R9 380
MB = Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5
OS = Windows 10 64-bit
Ram = 8.00 GB

So the problem I'm having deals with high latency that seems to be causing audio stuttering while gaming, either online or offline. I have been trying to crack this for days and tried a hundred different solutions, but nothing has worked so far. DPC Latency Checker shows all yellow bars consistently around just over 1,000 ms, even when no manual programs are running. LatencyMon doesn't really point to any specific drivers that are causing spikes, though a random one will occasionally show up here at a high level. I have updated all of my drivers, and reinstalled some that could potentially be causing this, but had no luck.

I run a HDMI straight from the GPU to my big screen as my primary monitor, which is then connected to my home theater system via standard audio cables. I also run a DVI to HDMI cable directly from the GPU to a second monitor that is used for work related stuff. I disconnected everything but the direct connection from the GPU to the primary monitor, but the latency did not decrease at all. I also run my main system applications off a Samsung 250 GB SSD, while my games and other large memory programs are stored on a WD 1 TB HD.

I have used the basic Windows Troubleshooting app which didn't help. I did a system scan (sfc /scannow) which found corrupt files, but was unable to fix them. CBS Logs show most of the errors are either duplicate ownership (which I've read shouldn't create any problems), or problems with Windows Update retrieving files. So I run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it says it fixes the problem, but it keeps resurfacing. I've also run a Dism RestoreHealth, which tells me the source files could not be found. The Dism logs say the same thing. And this is where I'm stuck. I have no idea where to go from here. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. This is my first PC build, and I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out with the exception of this one minor annoyance. Thanks in advance!

To be honest, you have tried everything. All I can really suggest is try different cables. The latency could be because of bad wires. I'm not that much of an expert when it comes to audio but is the latency affected when you run the audio through the monitors speakers?

I might just try with some different cables and see if it improves because I really can't think of anything else. I ran a tracert to google and my total time was 120 ms, so it doesn't seem like a network thing. I even did a full system reset, but that didn't clear it up and I lost a lot of time and data. All my important stuff is backed up on an external HD, but it's still pretty frustrating. Anyways thanks for the reply. I'll switch out the cables when I get a chance and report back with results. Might be a while though.

Have you figured this out? I am in the exact same boat as you. Constantly at the 1000ms range. Right now I am typing this without both the GPU and sound card drivers installed, and still it's all yellow bars just like before I uninstalled these drivers. I feel rather annoyed given that I pride myself in building methodically built systems and now I can't even listen to Google Play Music or my library with Foobar2000 because the audio skips/stutters/sounds like a digital "scratch" (don't even know what to call it) and right at the moment, red DCP spike. Would be nice to know if you figured it out and what you did.

I wish I had a good answer for you, but I'm still having issues myself. I took it in to a local repair guy, and he wasn't really able to fix it. He ended up putting in an old Creative sound card, but it didn't do any good so I just ended up taking it out. I've got the problem to a manageable state where it seems to clear up after a restart, but it's still pretty inconvenient. It only happens on streaming audio (which includes Steam I believe), so I really do think the latency is the issue. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any way to lower it. If I do happen to find a permanent solution, I'll post it here for you.

It can't be fixed. It simply can't. I have this problem since i built my PC. My graphic card made high latency. I returned it for repair, but it is not just GPU, cause I still have high latency issue present. It is not as high as it was with GPU, butt it is still present. Average latency is about 1100 microseconds. I also use HDMI.

Sorry I forgot to update my problem. Several months ago I sent the mobo back and asked for a full replacement. Turns out it was the pci slot, not the gpu itself. It’s worked fine ever since. Hope this helps anybody else who ever comes across this problem.
