Lower frame rate with SLI (Problem for years)

I have yet to have anyone explain why for example Mirror's edge catalyst runs at a higher frame rate when non SLI. I have 2 1080gtx in sli with best bridge available until HB is available. Had the same problem with my 2 980 TI. Certain games (even new games) would run better without SLI enabled (farcry 4, COD, Smite). And of course some games would run better. I even used nvidia inspector to go to the specific profiles made for those games to run best in SLI and I still am now turning SLI off to play mirror's edge. Can anyone PLEASE help me. This has been ongoing for years for me.

Some games don't have SLI support. Some games even perform worse in SLI. It's not you who has had this problem it's the gaming industry as a whole. That's why SLI is terrible. You pay double the price yet you never get double the performance. That's why people are against SLI configurations. That's why people hate on the 1080, because it's not enough to power 4k on its own yet if you go SLI you will have troubles with the games. That's why many people buy 1070 now, and will sell it in 6 months when 1080TI comes and buy the TI which will be able to power 4k on its own.

Well that's just super depressing. Does crossfire have the same issue?

Luckily I'm fortunate enough to upgrade to multiple 1080ti when they release. If they're focusing on 2 way sli still I'll grab 2 if three is a configuration I'll grab three. Benchmarking is good it's just a shame it doesn't help the performance on some of the games I play. Almost ridiculous.
