Hello, I was having a lot of problems with my pc recently, so I decided to install a clean version of windows 7. I formatted my HDD and used chkdsk to check for errors(there were none). The problem is that every time during the installation BSOD pops out with an ntfs.sys error. I made a windows recovery disk and tried using it, but it says that it's unable to fix the problem. Any suggestions? The version of windows i'm trying to install works perfectly on my other computer. I also tried to delete all the partitions and create a new one during the installation, but still ntfs error.

Hi there MelonHoly,

As you believe your installation media is OK, then there could be something wrong with the drive.
You can install this drive as a secondary one to another computer and test it with a tool that can provide a SMART report.
Look for pending/reallocated and uncorrectable sectors.

Let me know how this goes,

I ran a diagnostic tool to see if my hard drive is ok, and there were no errors. I decided to unseat and reseat all my RAM and after I booted up the Windows 7 DVD, everything worked fine! Maybe RAM was incorrectly seated? It worked OK for three years and I haven't touched it since I bought it.

UPDATE: It was a faulty RAM slot!
