How good is a combination of an i5-6400 and an RX 480

Wait a week or two and we will see real life benchmarks.
Your CPU is fine as it's able to boost to 3.5GHz, though 6500 or 6600 would be better.

They will work fine, and the the card will be the limiting factor :)
480 will perform about the same as GTX 970. so you can look at this pair reviews/benchmarks to have an idea how your system will perform.

Ok. Are you sure that RX 480 will perform about the same GTX 970 some ppl here saying it's much better than GTX 970. I hope i5 6400 and RX 480'll not botlleneck.
