Hello, this is my very first build and I am having an issue when booting the system. I can only get to the BIOS by using 1 stick of ram in the first slot. Both sticks of ram work, neither work on 2nd slot.
When I try to boot with both the CPU and DRAM led slowly flash one after the other.
What could it be? Online it seems like it could be many things, is the CPU led flashing cause the CPU is damaged in some ways? It's a mini-itx build I would rather not take the CPU apart to check for damage before taking other, more simple, approaches to fixing this.
Thank you so much for the help.

Thank you for the reply!

Yes that seems quite likely, or just a faulty motherboard. I ordered a replacement that should be here on Monday, in the meantime however I would like to make sure that the CPU works.

Could the CPU itself be damaged? I will disassemble the build tomorrow and check for socket damage, I had a friend placing the CPU for me and he initially positioned it upside down and then put it in the right way, if the pins in the socket are very delicate that may have been enough to damage the mobo.

My only issue really is risking to replace the mobo without fixing anything, is there a way to check if the CPU is damaged without being able to try it in a different motherboard?
