upgrade CPU Dell Inspiron 13R N3010

Solution
Hi,

This laptop has 1st generation of core i5 installed. I doubt you can find a better chip on the market.
If you get a core i7m, most likely it will make the laptop overheat.

Basically your beating down a dead horse on the cpu.

If you want to improve it, think SSD and more memory.

dextermat is correct.

I have a Latitude from the same era and was looking to upgrade as well. You can get the Core i7 that came as an option but it's still only going to be dual core hyperthread and not a quad core. My laptop CAN take the QM CPU so yours might be able to as well but the cooling solution in our laptops is not meant for a quad core that puts off ten more watts of heat. So even though it might work it will get hotter than what it was meant for, no doubt. You'd be better off maxing out the RAM and adding an SSD if you plan to keep the laptop for a while. It's a worthy investment. Or buy a new laptop if you want more CPU and GPU power.
