Can a SSD improve performance in open world games? Because i'm having a few framedrops in GTA 5 with my traditional harddrive, and i'm quiet shure it's not my other components. '(GTX 970, 4690K...)
FPS no, you might get an occasional stutter right now going between locations on the global map due to loading (and of course the game loading times overall would be faster), but no it would not give you an FPS increase.
Not for graphics you wont see an improvement, but loading times should be much better. I put most of games on SSD's and would say its worth it :] Hope this helps.

If your game is hitching because it's having trouble streaming data from the hard drive then an SSD *may* help with this. I say *may* because I haven't had hands on experience with GTAV yet, but certainly if it's HDD speed that's giving trouble then the extra speed from an SSD should help. OTOH it could be your card loading textures etc. What's the GPU memory usage looking like?
