Hi @all
I got the Asus Z170 Premium http:// . I can't find anything about the on Board Soundcard regarding the top output Amp. I got a Beyerdynamic COP and want to upgrade to a 600Ω Beyerdynamic MMX300.
I don't know if that would be to much due to the fact that if the amp is to weak the sound would be very quite at max Volume. Does anybody know? The sound is super loud and crystal clear on my current Headphone and yes dedicated sound card bla bla bla I still got a Asus Xonar sitting here but I don't want to pop it into the case if I don't need to. Had it installed, result was....is was not as clear (I know that sounds weired but really, the on board stuff got really good.) I have the Xonar in by other PC currently installed for my E Violin and Piano to not annoy my neighbors.I use a Beyerdynamic T 90 250Ω Headphone for that. The Xonar sound got don't get me wrong but the On Board is just more crisp.

So anybody know how much Ω my board could handle?

You can read through this and Realtek's specs sheet for the audio codec used.

Realtek state that in an amplified state it can drive 200Ω headphones(page 73). Perhaps borrow a pair(or at least of similar impedance) from a friend and see if they are capable of being driven by the onboard sound card?
