I configured a laptop sata hdd as primary drive. I also setup desktop sata hdd as secondary/slave drive withiout pins. But only laptop sata drive is by default loading. I am not able to see secondary hdd (desktop sata hdd) when os is loading.

Bios is showing both drives.

My question is do i have to put pins for slave desktop hdd while no pin for master laptop hdd.

This is on a desktop Dell optiplex gx620.
toshiba laptop hdd as primary
seagate laptop hdd as slave.
I mean 2 hdd are not shown after bios screen. I am thinking 2 hdd should be shown after bios screen just like 2 partitions. Or should I just use 1 hdd at a time instead of connecting both hdd and turn on pc.?
THanks for your time.

Hey there, MhT.

The slave-master configuration does not apply to SATA drives. This was for the old PATA/IDE interface. So you shouldn't have to put any jumpers for that. Would you be so kind as to post a screenshot of what you see in Disk Management bout the drives (you can use imgur.com to upload the image)? Here's how to open it: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives.

You should be able to use both HDDs. Once you've booted to Windows.

I'll make sure to check the screenshot once you've posted the link.
