Solution
Great build. Everything thing appears to be compatible. I would advise you to add samsung 950 pro as boot drive. Nvme drives are much faster than any sata ssd. Otherwise well done!

Was wondering if the Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor would be a better processor choice and the Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard might be a better Motherboard choice.

I'm not sure, honestly, I just looked at the system requirements for the oculus rift and it makes sense that full immersion games will be more processor heavy.

Oculus says i5-4590 or greater cpu - https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/powering-the-rift/ which is close to i5 6400. So an i5 6600k or an i7 6700k should be enough.

Get the EVGA FTW 1080 ( 08G-P4-6286-KR ) or asus strix oc 1080.

Edit: Also get the Corsair H110i or NZXT Kraken x61 cpu cooler

NZXT Kraken X61 280mm All-in-One Liquid Cooling System RL-KRX61-01

or

Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler , Black

That video card is EXPENSIVE on amazon right now. Think there ripping people a new one while stock is low.

I wouldn't go above a 6700k for gaming. Have seen zero benchmarks that show a framerate advantage. To keep gaming and vr viable software devs would not write code that requires a 6800k or higher cpu to operate properly.

If money means nothing then that's an amazing build. If you want powerful without wasting then throttle back a bit - 6700k, $150-$180 mobo, and 2x8gb ram.

Agree faster SSD would be a win, but consider with an 850 evo there will be loading screens that flash by so fast you can't read the factoid (e.g. Skyrim).

Happy gaming!
