Hello all!

I am working on a new build and I am having a bit of a problem. After getting everything assembled and updating to the newest version of the Bios I am having a problem with enabling XMP. By default my motherboard is seeing my ram at 2133 1.2v with everything set to auto but I am using G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3400 1.35. The XMP profile shows it at the correct DDR4 3400 16-16-16-36 1.350v but when I try to enable it the system reboots and says the overclock changes have failed and everything was set back to previous setting.

System is:

MSI Godlike Carbon
i7-6850k
G.Skill DDR4 3400 (F4-3400C16Q-64GTZ)
Bios ver. 2.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
-Steve

I tried that. I changed the voltage from the default 1.20 to 1.35 and then did a reboot and when it started it had the voltage set to 1.35. Then I tried to enable XMP and after another save and reboot I got the same "Overclock has failed" message

Hello... Well your MB and hardware/RAM communications... IS recommending this setting for your MB instead... I would take the MB's advice here... and not worry or look back at it any more... on to better things in my life B )

If you RMA them you will have to Pay 1-way shipping and Could get the same results?... you need to decide if it's worth it? B /

There has to be something that I am missing. I refuse to believe that there is no way to fix this problem. I didn't spend this much money so I could get the performance of parts half the cost. Thank you for your help though.

Hello... Never argue with mother (nature) boards B D... sorry I couldn't help you... B (

You MB/RAM does not have a problem... you have a happy MB selected communications setting with your RAM sticks... that heaven in my mind... B )

Try another Post... use you memory brand and model as "what is every body getting for clock settings for these?"

Hello... Take a look... if you are running 1T with default setting... you are getting faster communication sync with your memory controller. That's heavenly bliss in memory performance from a 1T setting... it don't get any faster than that. The big number is not as important as this LITTLE number is... it is a Digital Communication Channel B )

Hi, i own a X99 Godlike, wich is exactly th same board but in red, and the motherboard is faulty, it dosent like the 125mhz BLCK strap at all, i own a set of RIPJAW 3000mhz, and i cannot overclock them past 2666 because of a combination of low quality memory and the fact that i cannot boot in 125mhz strap, limit my RAM overclock, but you can try to keep the 100 MHZ clock, manualy adjust the memory multiplier to 3200mhz, set the memory voltage to 1.35-1.4v DRAM Voltage and see if it boots, if not, 2666 and 1.30v DRAM voltage should do the trick, but it mean that you got a low quality memory controller, there is not much you can do sadly past this point. also ensure you got the latest Bios update, mine is 1.8, your i dont know. but memory compatibility imporved a lot since i first bought is and now, when i first bought it, the CPU overclock was terrible, voltage control was murky, blew a stick of ram during a bios update, now its ok, but good luck it all happend during my warranty period... but MSI, G.skill and Intel need a little bit more of in house testing before actualy comercialising these products...., hope it help a little
