Can I connect a External hard drive ESata cable to the motherboard?

Is it going to blow up in my face?
I have a ESata cable but no port, do I connect it to the motherboard?

just remove it from its external housing and disconnect the backplate that attaches to the esata cable.
you can then connect it to the internal sata.
