Hi guys

My Video playback is making jamming audio noises & slowing down video playback whenever other stuff is downloading.

So it could be when

1. I stream and watch video on youtube or other sites.

Or

2. It also can be when i'm watching a video already on my hard drive and downloading something with my browser or even dropbox updating etc.

It dosent matter it seems to happen anytime the action of downloading is occuring.

Any help as to where I need to look to fix this would be very much appreciated.

cheers Grant

I ran HD tune smart report on my main hard drive that runs the operating system and contains all my programs has two warnings coming up.

C5 current pending sector - says warning
C7 Interface CRC Error Count - says attention

do you know what this means by any chance?

I can't seem to find much about it in the HD Tune Manual etc.

Unfortunately, it seems that your HDD may have bad sectors related problem.
You need to back up the important data stored on it.

Is the drive under warranty? In case it is, you can contact the place you got it from
Is this your OS or a secondary drive?

Hi there, no its starting to become an older drive so won't be under warranty.

Yep this is my OS hard drive.

I did a full error scan using HD Tune Pro and it showed up with 1.3% damaged blocks.

It currently says on the health test for C5 in the data column the number is 52.

Is this significant enough errors to warrant a new drive do you think?

or is 52-53 normal?

it dosent seem to be increasing at the moment over the last 2 or 3 days.

cheers Grant

Do you think 52-53 bad sectors is a big problem?

Well, my suggestion would be to get a new, reliable drive for your OS and continue using this one until it fails.
The thing with bad sectors is that they can stay like that for a long time, or on the other hand, they could increase in a day and the drive would become inaccessible.

You can consider using some cloning tool, in order to create the exact same copy of your OS and put it onto the new drive. That way, you will avoid the extensive process of reinstalling everything.
