Hi, I just bought an action camera Lamax X8, it's not so widely popular worldwide so I doubt many of you will be familiar with it. Anyway the issue is that when one connects the camera to the PC by a micro USB, a menu should show up on the camera which will ask you to choose USB mode, or charging mode. However when I connect the camera to my PC, this menu doesn't show up neither does the computer recognize it in the device manager. As this is only happening on MY PC and on 4 other it worked fine, I'm assuming it's a problem of some settings of the PC. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate, i7 4790K, 24Gb RAM

If this is a wrong category fo the forum then I'm sorry but as I don't really understand where the problem is, I'm not sure where to ask.

That's strange indeed. Even more if the other computer's you've tried are running the same version of Windows. Perhaps you might check if you have an OS update available and install it, to see if that changes anything. Perhaps a missing driver or something might be updated this way.

Otherwise a memory card adapter is indeed a good workaround.
Hey there, x-crafts.

Try different USB ports (the ones on the front panel and the ones on the back of the case as well). Other than that, there probably should be a driver or other kind of software for the camera. I'd suggest that you look it up on the camera manufacturer's website. Sometimes you just have to install it even though on another computer it might be recognized without installing anything, on this one the driver might fix things up.
You could also contact the manufacturer's customer support for more info on that.

Hope that helps.

Hi Boogieman,

thanks for your answer, unfortunatelly I already tried all USB ports and non of them worked. I have also contacted the support and they basically said they have no idea why that is happening and that I should update the firmware. But even after updating it it didn't help. They don't have any other drivers for download. Really weird situation :/ I guess the only thing to do will be to get a usb adapter for the memory card, but still, its strange. Thanks anyway
