Hi.

I've just seen someone selling Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8GB 3000MHz for almost half price and was wondering if i need it? My current system has 8gb, i5 6400 2.70ghz with a gtx970. I use it mainly for gaming. Would i notice a difference in performance?

Thanks.

Solution
I have 16GB of RAM and it is more than enough for gaming, overkill even (rarely gets to 8GB), if you truly want, I'd just add in another 8GB. As for performance, you wouldn't see any differences.

Unlikely considering there are few modern games that use more than 4GB let alone 8GB. 24GB is just overkill.

Also consider your current setup, hopefully you aren't using a single 8GB stick. However if you are, toss it and put in the 2x8GB matched set for dual channel mode and increased performance.

They do?

Edition Max RAM Amount
Windows 10 Home 32 bit 4 GBs
Windows 10 Home 64 bit 128 GBs
Windows 10 Pro 32 bit 4 GBs
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit 512 GBs
Windows 10 Enterprise/Education 32 bit 4 GBs
Windows 10 Enterprise/Education 64 bit 512 GBs

Thanks for all the feedback. Really appreciate it. One more quick query. I have 2x4gb crucial ddr4 2133mhz at the moment. Should I get more of the same to go up to 16gb or would it be better to swap it out with the corsair vengenance lpx 2x8gb 3000mhz?
